Vivienne Westwood gives me something to think about

January 29, 2011

In a recent edition of Fashion Television, they did a segment about Vivienne Westwood‘s Spring 2011 Red Label show and the Grandmother of Punk had some very strong opinions on the state of fashion these days.

She says with all the “easy care jerseys” people are wearing “they look like they’ve all come out of a giant washing machine” and like “over grown babies without a thought in their head.”

For some, them’s fightin’ words, but as guilty as I am of such an easy care “thoughtless” look on most occasions, I have to agree. I have grown so tired of the slouchy sack look. I want to see structure, I want to see waistlines, I want to see designs with intention. This will be something to keep in mind when I start developing my pieces.
