Inspiration: Tim Burton in Toronto

December 5, 2010

New York’s Museum of Modern Art Tim Burton art exhibition has come to Toronto’s Bell Light Box, and yesterday I had the pleasure of seeing it. The exhibit was incredible! It was mind-blowing to seeing such a huge collection of rough sketches, doodles, and notes that Tim Burton has held on to for so many years from all his films and various unrealized projects. I felt like a kid being able to immerse myself in some of my all-time  favourite movies, with actual props and costumes such as the latex Batman masks worn by Michael Keaton, one of Catwoman’s suits,  the Headless Horseman’s cape and Johnny Depp’s Edward Scissorhands costume only inches away from me.

With such a huge collection of works spanning outside his films it’s clear Tim Burton is more than just a film maker, but a master artist of our time with an ever flowing twisted imagination filled with humour that will always inspire. This exhibit is an absolute must see, you will not be disappointed!
